Excellent, concise book on managing, leading, and individual success. I find myself going back to this one in between books because it’s a quick read and very helpful for my stage of life.

I enjoy leadership books in general and they tend to fall into 1 of 2 categories – the thick & thorough (T&T) research dense books and the flighty, vague, “parables.” The T&T are enjoyable because there are reams of research on each point and most if not all the details are explained… but at the expense of 14-40+hours to read/listen. The “Parables” for me are pretty useless and are basically 1 idea from the T&T, repackaged and written by a person who has never been in a leader/manager, etc… the positive is that these books tend to be short read/listens 1-4hrs.

This book takes all the positives of a T&T and scales it down to less that 4hours while still being thorough, and clearly fleshing out each of the concepts presented. Love it!

This book literally changed my life. I own a small service business with around 15 employees. I had been struggling for years doing all managerial work myself so that it was done up to my standards. We did great work but at the expense of my sanity!
A mentor told me to read this book. The E-Myth was the driving factor that took my small business which had been controlling my life and transformed it into a business I could run remotely. Before I read this book I was working on site 9 hours a day 6 days a week. Less than a year after reading this I was able to take a six-month vacation around the world while my business ran itself. If you own a small business you need to read this book as soon as possible.

This is an incredible tour de force with detailed research and eye-opening, and often disheartening insights into our flawed personal decision making processes. If read rightly, I believe this will thrust you into a new way of thinking and cause you to strive to develop ways to overcome unintentional biases and even hope to improve when you “trust your gut.” Read wrongly, it will either cause frustration and hopelessness or anger and resentment. Gladwell does not give a prescription here. He doesn’t provide a blueprint or a roadmap. He educates and leaves it to us to see where in our day to day we might be mind blind or are relying too heavily on data rather than instinct (or vice versa). It is truly up to us to take this information and use it as a lens to examine our own thinking and search to improve how we take what we see and use it to make better choices.

Part 1 (Book Review)
The book is a great place to start in shifting your mindset from being your typical average joe to a person of great aspiration. It explains the principles needed to conquer seemingly impossible tasks with the right approaches needed to take in order to make those dreams a reality. Grant Cardone is a very well respected entrepreneur and author who has created a very easy and clearly laid out book that gives you more then enough valuable information on how to pursue your goals, overcome obstacles, standout from your competition, and continuously motivate yourself in the idea that is the “10x Rule”. In the book Grant also uses his real life experiences as examples to help drive each principle made home by including (but not limited to) his thought process, attitude towards the situation, immediate problems he faced, and more, to help bring you to the reality of the problems you may very well come across on your journey to success as well. The book is very straight forward, going right into the main ideas and principles set fourth and doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for undesired fluff, with a very nice ending to the book being a summary of how Grant has used all these same principles in his life to achieve success. All in all i give the book 4.5 starts for its ability to get right to the information, thoroughly explain the principles needed to have a 10x mindset, and gives you personal examples of the 10x rule being applied in Grants own life and how you can apply it to yours, now its just time for you to start getting your 10x life going!

Most churches have no retirement plans for preachers. Of course the church might give them a little extra to put away, but there is little Human Resource management to help the minister in creating a savings plan. So with that said, I continue to read and study the art of investing to attempt to provide my family with something if something happens to me. This is one of the classic investing books, and is highly recommended by Warren Buffett. What was amazing was the readability of the book. It was a joy to read and highly interesting. The commentary on each chapter was helpful too. The book talks about safe approaches to investing in stocks and bonds. It seems right now, the bond market yields so little, there is little advantage in holding these assets than cash. Also for stocks, there is too many ways to lose in the market. Often the smartest thing to do is to invest in the SP 500 and go away. Often actions creates loses. This book is probably not for the basic investor that ways to save a little each month, but someone who desires to be a little proactive or a little aggressive. The book is easy to understand and helps to think through what you are buying and why you are buying it. If you are somewhat interested in stocks, this is a great first book, after reading the basic how to save texts.

Loved this book. I think many people who read Robert’s books are looking for a “how-to” guide to getting rich or acquiring more money, yet they skip the first and most important step – becoming the kind of person who deserves wealth. Because honestly, if you haven’t accomplished that first and most vital step, while you may still acquire wealth, it will never stay with you or bring you real happiness. This book goes into more detail on the kind of person you need to become and the personal changes you need to undertake before you can ever hope to become truly wealthy and successful. I would suggest reading this book slowly and taking every word of it very seriously, using a lot of critical thinking, analysis, and not overlooking the subtleties within the text that give you valuable insight into the thought process a very wealthy, successful and well-known man. I have always admired Robert because he actually takes the time and effort to try and educate other people on how to become more successful and wealthy in many ways, whereas many who achieve wealth may become recluse or self-serving. You are always lucky to have someone who has been there, done that and is willing to share their experiences, helping to smooth out our path towards similar goals. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to my friends, my family, and you.

As a CEO, you must be above the fray of everyday operations and keep a keen eye on the future and potential innovations. For example, when Sears gave up the catalog in the early 1990’s, the potential of the internet was just beginning to raise its capacity to greatly influence a new way of doing business. If the Sears executives had not been so busy trying to save a buck and give up the catalog, maybe it could have retained its millions of dedicated shoppers and innovated along the lines of the internet that we know today as Amazon.Bezos, of Amazon, was a hedge fund manager in the late 1980’s.
